Finding success in network marketing isn’t easy. If someone tells you that it is, cross them off of your friend list now (just joking). Just think about it…if it were that easy, everyone would be doing it.
Besides jumping from business to business and the next opportunity, people are struggling to build their businesses. There’s a way for you not to be one of them.
9 Ways to Find Success in Network Marketing
Below you will find a few of the ways you can find success in network marketing, even if you’ve never had it before. Are there more?
I could go on and on, but the truth is you should work on each of them as if they were steps. They’re all pretty basic actually, but many people jump out the gate on the wrong foot.
Don’t let that be you.
Sign up for the Right Company
One of the biggest mistakes you can ever make in network marketing is by signing up for the wrong company. When you do, you’ll find yourself getting out of it before you even make your first commission.
Some of us will get with a company because our friend forced us to go to a meeting and we felt pressured or we saw the compensation plan and we had visions of dancing dollar signs.
We didn’t even consider if we even liked the product we were going to sell.
Once you’re in it, however, you realize that the company is crap, or worse – your sponsor sucks. You’ll regret joining and will hop onto the next opportunity.
When considering a new company, take the time to research it first. Check out reviews online, watch YouTube videos, try out their products, and read the fine print. The compensation plan may look promising, but don’t let that be the deciding factor.
Get Behind a Product or Service You’re Passionate About
Ever bragged about the food at a restaurant you love? When you talk about the food, do you tell your friends to try everything on the menu?
Instead, you probably tell them to try the dishes you actually tasted and loved. Am I right?
That is how you need to speak about the products and services of your company. Instead of trying to convince someone to buy everything on the website, select two or three products you have used and can attest to.
Not only is this the most ethical thing to do, it’s also the biggest step to ensuring your business makes money.
If you focus on only the products you are passionate about, you’ll be able to demonstrate that with the way you speak. You’ll talk about the benefits like they were written on the back of your hand. You’ll also be able to show the results because you actually use and love the products you love.
Treat Your Business Like a Business
Many of you sign up for a company and after two or three months you’re ready to quit. You haven’t seen one penny for your efforts and you are convinced the company and its products is the problem.
Let’s be real here. If you were to keep a diary of a day in your business, how much of it would you say you actually worked on it? Probably not much. Logging into your back office to see if anyone has signed up does not count.
If you are serious about making money in your business, then you have to treat it like one. You can’t refuse to pay for training, read books, or look for new people if you plan to make any money. Waiting for people to drop at your feet will not happen if you don’t put the work in.
And this is true no matter what industry you are in.
Think about it. Even McDonald’s and Burger King spend money on advertising and they’ve been around for YEARS! You just paid $35 to start a business, so how do you expect anyone to know who you are or what you do? The IRS will tell you themselves to stop playing after 5 years of not making a profit in your business.
If you’re getting into the industry, you should be able to not only distinguish the difference between network marketing, mlm, direct sales…you should be able to explain it.
You should be able to attract the right people to you, your opportunity, and your product. There are some of us who are natural born sellers – that’s not the case for most of us. That’s why training is so important if you plan to make it.
Many people who drop out of the industry do so because they look to their upline for guidance, training, and support. Which is great if you have experience or has a great sponsor.
Plug into the right training and learn how to brand yourself, market your product, and build a team. And yes, the best training comes at a price. The free stuff people give away won’t allow you to build a six figure business.
I’ve been part of this training system since 2015 and it is probably the #2 reason I’ve been successful in my businesses (#1 is because I’m awesome of course).
Change Your Mindset
The way you feel about yourself and money is proportional to the amount of money you have in the bank. If you think you’re going to be broke forever, guess what?
You’re going to be broke forever.
Changing your mindset begins with you. Look to successful individuals in your industry, surround yourself with like-minded people, invest in training, and read business books that will not only help you to become a better entrepreneur – but a better person.
Which also means you are willing to invest in yourself and your business where it matters. A broke mindset will have you use a free tool that takes hours to piece together versus a paid already-done-for-you one that will 10X your revenue.
Leave Family and Friends Alone
How many sales have you made posting the newest protein shake from your company on your Facebook timeline?
Go ahead, I’ll wait.
I bet you the $20 bill in my pocket that you haven’t made any. And if you did, it was probably from one of your aunties that thought it was “cute” that you had started a business.
If the only people you market to are your family and friends, then I promise you – most of them will unfollow you and avoid you. They may agree to have a party at their house, but any purchase they make will probably be out of pity or obligation.
Do not flood your personal social networks with your product or service. Not everyone wants to lose 5 pounds or want to start a business.
Instead…show pictures from your last vacation. Comment how you can finally fit in those jeans you wore in high school. By living your life, the people who are interested in learning about what you are doing will contact you for more information. I promise.
Leverage Social Media and the Internet
To be successful, you will need to leverage social media and the internet. Case closed.
I don’t care if your upline told you to write a list of 100 people you know. The people who will support you the most will not be them.
And do you know why?
They’re probably not your target market. They are most likely not interested in the product and are only giving you five minutes because they have a relationship with you.
In this day and age, the most successful businesses – in any industry – will have a web presence. They are most likely focusing their attention on Facebook or Instagram, or any place they believe their target customer is hanging out.
There are billions of people in the world and most of them are scrolling through their social media feeds. The good news, you don’t need billions of people to make money online – you only need a fraction of that.
Participate in Income Producing Activities
Do you know I used to sit at my computer for hours on end working on my blog? Guess how much money I made by having a pretty website…
…zilch, nada, not a damn dime.
Having an online presence is important, but having a pretty and expensive website won’t help you to meet your financial goals. Creating content, talking to people, identifying their pain points, and helping them to solve their problems are activities that will bring in money.
These are your income producing activities…which are the activities that will produce income in your business.
If you’re busy working on activities that will not affect your bottom line, then you’re wasting time and money. Stop strolling on Instagram and spend more of your time working on what matters most.
Develop a Thick Skin
Afraid of hearing the word “no”? Oh well, get used to it.
What are you going to do, stop at no number 2? If so, you’ll never make it and you’ll be an employee for the rest of your working years.
In this industry, you’re going to hear no a lot of times. You will often have to hear 100 nos before you get to that one yes.
If you want to be successful in any niche, you’re going to have to get over yourself. Don’t shy away from the word no. The quicker you can get passed the nos, the faster you’re going to get to yes.
